Technical Parameters

Silicon nitride tubes are a high-performance ceramic material with unique physical and chemical properties. It is widely used in industrial environments with high temperature, high corrosion and high mechanical stress.

 

Material properties

  • Lightweight and high strength: The density of silicon nitride is only 40% of that of steel, but its bending strength exceeds 700 MPa, and it can still maintain excellent mechanical properties at high temperatures, suitable for high load and high impact environments.
  • High temperature resistance and thermal shock resistance: The maximum operating temperature of silicon nitride tubes can reach 1200-1400℃. Some composite materials (such as silicon nitride combined with silicon carbide) have higher temperature resistance and low thermal expansion coefficient. They can withstand drastic temperature changes without cracking, especially suitable for molten metal environments such as aluminum liquid and zinc liquid.
  • Corrosion resistance: It has strong corrosion resistance to most acids, alkalis, and molten metals (such as aluminum and copper), and does not wet with molten metals, reducing the risk of slagging.
  • Wear resistance and self-lubrication: It has high hardness and significant surface self-lubricating properties, suitable for friction parts such as bearings and seals.

 

Manufacturing Process

 

 

  • Molding and sintering: Silicon nitride tubes use isostatic pressing and gas pressure sintering processes to ensure product density and uniformity, and the bending strength reaches the industry-leading level.
  • Nano-enhanced technology: The toughness of the material can be improved by adding silicon nitride nanowires/tubes, but it faces challenges of uneven dispersion and interface compatibility, and related research is still in progress.
  • Customized processing: Supports thread processing and customization of special-shaped parts (such as internal/external threaded tubes, thin-walled tubes) to meet the needs of different industrial scenarios.

 

Application Areas

 

 

Nonferrous metal casting:

  • Liquid riser: Used in low-pressure casting process, the service life can reach more than 10 times that of traditional materials, significantly reducing the cost of aluminum casting. Its resistance to aluminum liquid corrosion and thermal shock ensures the quality of castings.
  • Thermocouple protection tube: Used as a temperature measuring sleeve in aluminum and zinc smelting furnaces, resistant to high-temperature metal liquid corrosion and thermal shock.

 

High-temperature industrial equipment:

  • Burner nozzle, heat exchanger: Used in gas turbines, high-temperature furnaces, etc., resistant to high-temperature oxidation and gas corrosion.
  • Ceramic heater: Silicon nitride electric heating film heating tube combines insulation and thermal conductivity, and is used in rapid heating scenarios such as water appliances.

 

Mechanical and electronic:

  • Bearings, cutting tools: High hardness and wear resistance make it a substitute for metal parts in precision machinery.
  • Semiconductor equipment: Used as insulating rings and heat shields in polysilicon reduction furnaces to extend equipment life.
